Emma Bannister
Child and Youth Care Practitioner
Emma holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC). She is currently completing her Master of Science in Child and Youth Studies. Emma also serves as a Professor at Seneca College, teaching in the Child and Youth Care (CYC) Program.
Emma is passionate about working with children and youth to help them navigate challenges such as emotional regulation, anxiety, behavioural concerns, bullying, social-emotional awareness, self-esteem, and stress management. She has extensive experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is committed to fostering a collaborative environment that includes both youth and their families, ensuring the successful development of new skills and strategies.
Emma’s therapeutic approach is grounded in Strength-Based Practices, focusing on skill development and empowering children to reach their full potential. She tailors her interventions to each child’s unique needs, facilitating the growth of coping strategies, self-advocacy, and in-the-moment tools for navigating challenging situations independently. By working closely with children, families, and other supports, Emma helps create the nurturing environments necessary for children to thrive.
Emma’s practice is rooted in creating a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for children and families to feel heard and understood as they work towards achieving their goals.
