Monica Russell is a therapist at Pursue You Psychotherapy, bringing her passion for supporting athletes and high performers to help them strengthen their mental resilience and rediscover balance both in and outside of sport.


Monica is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University and holds an Honours degree in Psychology with a minor in Kinesiology.


As a former high-level soccer player for over 17 years, Monica understands firsthand the dedication, discipline, and emotional demands that come with competitive athletics. Her experience has given her a deep appreciation for the mental strength required to perform under pressure, as well as the unique challenges athletes face- including injury recovery, performance anxiety, fear of failure, and identity transitions when stepping away from sport.


Monica’s approach integrates evidence-based psychological principles with an athlete-focused perspective, helping clients develop mental skills that enhance focus, confidence, and overall well-being. She believes that success in sport begins with the mind and that building psychological flexibility and self-compassion can allow athletes to thrive both on and off the field.


Monica is dedicated to helping athletes and high achievers overcome mental barriers, reconnect with their passion, and find fulfillment beyond performance outcomes. Her goal is to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, strengthen their mindset, and rediscover the joy that inspired them to play in the first place.
